We interviewed Little Death on our eleventh and 24th shows. Listen to it.

Way back in March, Padraic caught a very impressive Little Death opening for Action Plan in London’s Tatty Bogle. And in spite of a few technical hitches, their sound was so complete that it utterly belied their place as fourth on a low key Thursday night bill. Then front man Kacey announced that this was the bands first ever show, and we were utterly dumbstruck.
Six months later, and Crossthepond are experiencing the same gut wrenching feeling. Kacey and Little Death guitarist Nathan have just played a stunning acoustic rendition of ‘The Slow Yes’ and all at Crossthepond HQ are stunned to silence. It’s that ‘this is a band who were just born with their sound’ feeling again. So fucking what if they’ve only been playing for a few months, have played together live a couple of dozen time, and only have a handful of recorded demos to their name, Little Death just have it.
And what that would be perhaps lies in the blurred lines between Psychocandy era Jesus & Mary Chain and an in-their-prime Rival Schools. Little Death possess a rather potent mix of detached post punk and transatlantic garage punk tradition. The transatlantic tones come courtesy of American duo Kacey and bassist Malia and Nathan whose roots lie north of the border in Edmonton, Canada. Completing the four-piece is Bermudan drummer Will. All four met, and now live in London.
Understandably labels minor and major have been sniffing around Little Death, despite the band not yet being entirely happy with their live set. A number of October/November dates should put pay to that. You’d better get down to one, but first hear the band for yourselves on Crossthepond 11.
Sounds a bit like: You can’t go far wrong with a healthy dose of early Jesus & Mary Chain mixed with Rival Schools.
